盲女乔姐与家中长工的儿子姚哥从小青梅竹马，但父母却把她远嫁到地主尚瞎子家，姚哥历尽艰辛来到尚家找活做，为的是守护心爱的人。阴险的管家一方面想霸占尚家家产，又贪慕乔氏美色，假借尚瞎子之名召集众人揭发乔氏与姚哥私情。在“瞎子大会”上，乔氏与女仆林嫂揭发了管家图谋不轨的劣行，众人乱棍打跑了管家，愧疚中的姚哥自残双目还得乔氏的自由，一对恩爱的盲人相互搀扶着在风雪中蹒跚前行……。
